A Dane, a Georgian, and a
language learning problem.

EasyGeorgian started with a personal frustration and became a mission: give the Georgian language the modern learning tools it deserves.

How it started

When I moved from Denmark to Tbilisi five years ago, I didn't speak a word of Georgian. Not one. And I quickly realized that learning Georgian was going to be a very different experience from learning Spanish or French.

There were no good apps. Duolingo didn't cover it. The few textbooks I found were dry, academic, and clearly designed for linguists — not for someone who just wanted to order khinkali without pointing. YouTube had bits and pieces, but nothing structured. Private tutors were helpful but expensive, and my schedule made consistency impossible.

Meanwhile, I was falling in love with Georgia — the food, the people, the mountains, the chaos of Tbilisi. And I was falling in love with a Georgian woman who became my wife. Her family spoke limited English. My Georgian was limited to gamarjoba and madloba. Sunday dinners were... creative.

That frustration became motivation. I started building what I wished existed: a proper, modern system for learning Georgian. Not a generic language template with Georgian words swapped in — every lesson, every example, every phrase comes from real life in Georgia.

The team

My wife Tamar is the voice and soul of EasyGeorgian's content. As a native speaker, she ensures every lesson sounds like actual Georgian — the way people really talk in Tbilisi, not textbook language nobody uses. She develops the podcast episodes, reviews every audio lesson, and catches the subtle mistakes that only a native ear would notice.

I handle the product side — the courses, the app, the website, the business. I bring the learner's perspective: I know exactly where foreigners struggle because I struggled there too. Every feature we build passes the test of "would this have helped me when I was starting?"

Together, we have what most language learning platforms lack: a native speaker who understands teaching and a foreign learner who understands the struggle. That combination shapes everything we build.

Why Georgian deserves better tools

Georgian is one of only 14 languages in the world with its own unique alphabet. It has a 1,500-year literary tradition. It's the language of a country that punches far above its weight in culture, hospitality, and wine.

And yet — the learning resources are stuck in 2005. While Spanish, Japanese, and Korean learners get beautifully designed apps, interactive courses, and entire YouTube ecosystems, Georgian learners get... a PDF from a university linguistics department.

That's not good enough. Georgian deserves the same quality of learning tools as any other language. And the growing number of expats, digital nomads, tourists, and language enthusiasts who want to learn Georgian deserve resources that actually work.

That's what we're building.

Our mission

Replace outdated textbooks and generic apps with modern, purpose-built tools for learning Georgian. We believe that every language — no matter how "small" — deserves great learning resources. And Georgian is a great place to start.
